2021 Award winners and strategic planning

Dear Brumbies,

A quick message to wish you all a Merry Christmas and please have a safe holiday period.

2021 was once again a difficult year, but at least we got some hockey in. Despite the interrupted season it was great to see so many people re-engaging with the club, culminating with our highly successful spring and summer programs which saw teams entered into HV Indoor and Outdoor comps, and Hockey – 6’s for juniors and seniors running at club level until mid December.

At the recent club AGM, and in the absence of our normal presentation and award events, a number of awards were made to recognise our Senior men’s and women’s Best and Fairest players, as well as two service awards for people going above and beyond around the club. Its my pleasure to announce the following:

Women’s Best and Fairest for 2021 – Millar Kay-Kneebone
Men’s Best and Fairest for 2021 – Ben White
Please join me in congratulating both players when you see them around the club in 2022.

For service awards;
The Gen Forbes Best Club person Award – Bill West.
Bill has been a key person in the masters section of our club for many years, and also coordinates the Vic State masters programs, and sits on the EPRHA (Elgar Park regional Hockey Association) Board which manages the assets at Elgar Park. Most recently Bill was admitted as a Hockey Victoria Life Member for his services to the game. The Gen Forbes award is nominated and voted by the KBH Committee each year. I would like to congratulate Bill for all his efforts at KBH and look further to working further with him as we develop our club in the future.

The 2021 Presidents Award – Lisa Stewart and Alice Rush
This year I have the pleasure of awarding this Presidents award to Lisa Stewart (KBH Registrar) and Alice Rush (KBH Treasurer) for their outstanding commitment and work in financially navigating the club and members through the COVID related issues of the 2020 and 2021 seasons. It has been a lot of work to be flexible in the volatile environment of the past 2 years, and I cannot thank Lisa and Alice enough for their hard work through these times.

As a committee we have just completed a strategic planning process for the next 3-5 years and 2022 promises to be an exciting year so I hope to see you all back at the club to enjoy your hockey then.
