Vale Avis Davis
It is with much sorrow and sadness that we must report to you the passing of Avis Davis this week
Avis was a keen supporter of the Brumbies but was also heavily involved in Kew and Box Hill Hockey Clubs previously for several decades. A testament to Avis’s contribution to hockey was that she was a life member at both Kew and Box Hill hockey clubs that carried forward into the Brumbies.
She was on the committee for Kew and over many years she held many roles, including secretary, coach, team manager, umpire coordinator just to name a few. Avis also played hockey herself, she was a state player and she truly loved hockey and everyone who was involved. She always made sure teams had enough players on the field and did her best trying to make sure each team had an umpire each week which was not an easy task.
Recently she spent time on the sidelines watching games of hockey whenever she could get down to the ground. She was a great supporter of women’s hockey at Kew and Box Hill but also enjoyed watching one of her favourite teams, the Soprano’s whenever she could.
Our thoughts are with Avis’s family at this time.
Her family wish to pass on that Avis did not want a funeral, however a celebration of her life will be held in the near future. We will alert you to the details at a later date. The club will celebrate Avis in the future when we are all together for the season.
